The East Los Angeles Community Union (TELACU) and California State University Fullerton (Cal State Fullerton) have joined forces to create a partnership that provides educational opportunities for students from East Los Angeles. This partnership aims to bridge the gap and provide students with access to a quality education, regardless of their financial background. The TELACU & Cal State Fullerton partnership offers scholarships to help students achieve their academic dreams and create a better future for themselves.

The TELACU & Cal State Fullerton partnership offers scholarships to students who are pursuing degrees in any field of study at Cal State Fullerton. This includes undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs.
Number of Awards
Each year, the TELACU & Cal State Fullerton partnership grants scholarships to a select number of students from the East Los Angeles community.
Target Group
The TELACU & Cal State Fullerton partnership is designed specifically for students from East Los Angeles. This includes students who live in East LA, attend high school in East LA, or have a permanent address in East LA.
Scholarship Value/Inclusions
The TELACU & Cal State Fullerton scholarship covers the cost of tuition, books, and some other school-related expenses. Students who receive this scholarship also have access to mentorship and professional development opportunities to support their academic journey.
Eligibility Criteria
- This scholarship is open to students who reside in East Los Angeles, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Huntington Park, City of Los Angeles, Montebello, Monterey Park, Pico Rivera, Pomona & the InlandEmpire, Santa Ana, South Gate, or other communities selected by the TELACU Education Foundation forinclusion in the Scholarship Program; applicant may be either incoming first-time freshman or acontinuing student. This scholarship is open to anyone regardless of residency status.
- 2.5 GPA: Outstanding academic potential, genuine commitment to the community and a needfor financial aid and academic support in order to successfully complete a post-secondary program.
- Recipients of this award must adhere to the following:
- Attend Fall Scholarship orientation/ meeting
- Meet for academic counselling twice per semester
- Meet with assigned peer mentor twice a month;
- Attend three student success workshops per semester
- Submit grade cards each semester.
- Attend Networking Mixer and Leadership Retreat
