QUT Postgraduate Research Award (QUTPRA)
Brief Description
The QUT Postgraduate Research Award is a merit-based scholarship that provides financial assistance to students undertaking research programs at QUT. The program aims to encourage and support talented individuals to pursue postgraduate research within the university’s diverse and dynamic research community.

The scholarship is exclusively available to students enrolled in a postgraduate program at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Australia. With a strong track record of success in research and innovation, QUT is ranked among the top 300 universities in the world (QS World University Rankings 2021).

The QUTPRA is open to all postgraduate research students, including Masters by Research and Doctoral (Ph.D.) candidates in any field of study offered at QUT.
Number of Awards
Each year, QUT awards approximately 125 QUTPRA scholarships to outstanding postgraduate research students.
Target Group
The QUTPRA is open to both domestic and international students, allowing for a diverse and inclusive research community at QUT. International students are also eligible for a living allowance to cover their living expenses in Australia.
Scholarship Value/Inclusions
The QUTPRA provides a living allowance of $28,597 per annum (2021 rate) tax-free, as well as tuition fee sponsorship for up to 16 research units. It also offers additional funding of up to $1,520 towards a research consumables fund.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the QUTPRA,
- Applicants must have a first-class honours degree or equivalent, or have extensive research experience.
- They must also meet QUT’s English language requirements and be enrolled full-time in a postgraduate research program at QUT.

Application Instructions
Candidates must submit an application for admission to a postgraduate research program and a separate application for the QUTPRA scholarship through the QUT website. The application period usually opens in the second half of the year.
