Brief Description

Established in honor of Wanda Munn, the first female president of SWE, the Wanda Munn Scholarship is awarded to female students pursuing a degree in engineering at any level. This merit-based scholarship recognizes academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to the advancement of women in the field of engineering.

Level/Field of Study

The Wanda Munn Scholarship is open to female students pursuing a degree in any engineering discipline at any academic level – undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral.

Number of Awards

Each year, the Wanda Munn Scholarship awards up to 10 scholarships of $10,000 each, for a total of $100,000.

Target Group

The scholarship is open to women of any nationality or age who are enrolled in an accredited engineering program and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Society aims to support and encourage women from diverse backgrounds to pursue a career in engineering.

Scholarship Value/Inclusions

The Wanda Munn Scholarship provides a financial award of $10,000, which can be used towards tuition, books, and other educational expenses. In addition, recipients will have the opportunity to attend the SWE Annual Conference, where they can network with professionals and fellow students in the engineering field.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Wanda Munn Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Identify as female
  • Be enrolled in an accredited engineering program
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Submit transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and a personal essay highlighting their passion for engineering and how they plan to use their degree to make a difference.
