The New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) is a need-based scholarship program that provides financial assistance to New York residents attending approved post-secondary institutions in the state.

The TAP is available at over 275 approved post-secondary institutions across New York State, including New York University (NYU).

The number of TAP awards varies each year and is based on state budgetary funding. In the 2019-2020 academic year, over 307,000 students received TAP awards.

To be eligible for TAP,
- Students must be New York State residents who are enrolled full-time.
- Have a combined family NYS net taxable income of $80,000 or less.
- Meet other requirements, including academic progress and satisfactory academic standing.

Application Instructions
To apply for the TAP, students must first complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and then the TAP application, which can be found on the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) website. The deadline for submitting applications is June 30 for the fall term and November 15 for the spring term.
