Number of Awards
Each year, approximately 15 exceptional students are selected as Linehan Artist Scholars.
Target Group
The Linehan Artist Scholars Program is open to incoming freshmen as well as current UMBC students who have demonstrated outstanding artistic abilities and dedication.
Scholarship Value/Inclusions
The scholarship covers tuition, fees, and room and board. In addition, students receive a generous stipend for books, supplies, and other expenses related to their artistic pursuits.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Linehan Artist Scholars Program,
- Students must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.5 and submit a portfolio or audition showcasing their artistic talents.
- Current UMBC students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 and submit a portfolio or audition as well.
- Applicants must also demonstrate a passion for their chosen field of study and a strong commitment to their art.

Application Instructions
Prospective students must submit their scholarship application to UMBC by January 15th., along with their application to the university. Current UMBC students can apply for the scholarship by January 15th. The application requires evidence of academic and artistic achievements, letters of recommendation, and an essay.
