Brief Description

The Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program (CFSP) at the Government of Canada aims to support and encourage French-speaking international students to pursue higher education in Canada. It offers various scholarships to students from Francophonie countries, helping them enhance their skills while immersing in the vibrant Canadian culture.

Host Institution(s)

The CFSP is a collaborative effort between the Government of Canada and post-secondary institutions across the country. Selected students will study at one of the participating institutions, which include universities, colleges, and technical institutions.

The CFSP offers scholarships for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in various fields of study such as arts, humanities, sciences, and technology. The program also offers technical and vocational training opportunities.

Number of Awards

Every year, the CFSP grants around 60 scholarships to international students from Francophonie countries. Out of these, 12 are exclusively reserved for students from the 19 African member countries of the Francophonie.

Target Group

The CFSP is open to students from developing countries who are citizens of Francophonie countries. These include African, Caribbean, and Pacific countries, as well as Central and Eastern European countries. Priority is given to students from the designated 19 African countries.

Scholarship Value/Inclusions

The CFSP scholarships cover tuition fees, living expenses, and round-trip airfare. The duration of the scholarship varies depending on the level of study, from one academic year for technical and vocational training, up to four years for doctoral degrees.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the CFSP,

• Applicants must be citizens and permanent residents of a Francophonie country.
• They must also hold a diploma attesting to their level of education, depending on the level of study they are applying for.
• Must be proficient in French or English.
• Additionally, applicants must meet the admission requirements of the selected institution.
